Featured Guests Biographies:

Dr Leon Prieto and Dr Simone Phipps are renown authors and lecturers. They were the 2021 recipients of the Minority and Women Entrepreneurship Education Innovator Award from the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. They were also inducted into the Thinkers50 Radar Class in 2021, an award that recognizes the new generation of global thinkers most likely to shape the future of how organizations are managed. They are the authors of the highly acclaimed book, African American Management History: Insights on Gaining a Cooperative Advantage. Their work can also be found in numerous highly regarded publications, including the Journal of Business EthicsJournal of Management History, and MIT Sloan Management Review, to name a few.

Leon Prieto, PhD is an Associate Professor of Management at Clayton State University, and Associate Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School's Centre for Social Innovation. His research areas are in African American management history, social issues in management and management education, and his research is focused on the contributions of minorities (gender as well as racial & ethnic) to the development of management as a discipline and the interrelationship between organizational management and society.

Simone T. A. Phipps, PhD is an Associate Professor of Management in the School of Business at Middle Georgia State University, and Associate Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School's Centre for Social Innovation. Her research interests include management history, entrepreneurship, HR practices, leadership, and relationships between the organization and society. Usually, her research involves the exploration of gender, racial, and ethnic minorities, with the aim of highlighting their struggles and contributions, as well as finding possible solutions to improve the minority experience in business and society. 

This event is open and free to all, subject to availability. Please register by noon (UK time) on Monday, 22nd of February to receive the link for the event. The talk will be held on Zoom. A cam.ac.uk email address is very much preferred, but not necessary to join the event.
